Privacy Policy
Nuance. is built to respect your privacy. No sign-up, no ads, no advertising tracking pixels. Most of your data stays in your browser.
What we store locally
In your browser (via localStorage), Nuance. stores:
- Your chosen nickname
- An anonymous technical identifier (UUID) randomly generated on your first visit
- Your game history (Chroma scores, colors played, date)
- Your preferences (language, slider mode, difficulty mode)
- Your daily streak counter
This data never leaves your device, except for scores sent to our database (see next section).
Data sent to our database
At the end of each game, the following information is sent to Supabase to populate the leaderboards:
- Your anonymous identifier (UUID)
- Your nickname
- Your final Chroma score and per-round scores
- The target colors and the colors you chose
- The difficulty mode (Normal or Expert)
- The date and time of the game
No personally identifiable data (email, IP address, device, real name) is collected or transmitted by Nuance.
Friend Challenges and Daily Shades
When you create a challenge to share, its data (unique code, colors, creator, target score) is stored on Supabase and automatically expires after 48 hours.
Daily Shades use shared colors across all players. Your scores in this mode are stored the same way as regular games, in a dedicated daily leaderboard.
Cookies and analytics
Nuance. uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to anonymously understand how the game is used. GA4 places technical cookies in your browser for audience measurement purposes. These cookies are managed by Google and subject to Google's privacy policy.
Data collected by GA4 is anonymous and aggregated: page views, game start and end, scores, use of the share feature, language, device type, country. No nicknames are sent to Google. This data cannot be used to identify you individually.
Notifications (optional)
If you accept browser notifications, a Service Worker is installed to remind you to play the Daily Shades. This permission is revocable at any time from your browser settings. No personal data is sent to Nuance. in this context.
Technical providers
Nuance. uses the following services to function:
- Supabase (database): Supabase Inc., based in San Francisco, California. Your data is hosted on Supabase's European servers (eu-west-3 region, Paris, France).
- Netlify (web hosting): Netlify Inc., San Francisco, California. Netlify may collect technical connection data (IP address, user-agent) as part of normal web page delivery. This data is not accessible to the creator of Nuance.
- Google Fonts (typography): fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which may collect your IP address in the process.
- Google Analytics 4 (audience measurement): see cookies section above.
No other data is transmitted to third parties. The site contains no advertising or advertising tracking pixels.
Data retention
Data is retained according to the following rules:
- Global leaderboard scores: kept indefinitely as long as the game exists, to maintain historical rankings.
- Friend challenges: automatically deleted 48 hours after creation.
- Local data (localStorage): kept in your browser until you clear it.
- Google Analytics data: kept for 14 months by default per GA4 rules.
Your rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights over your data:
- Right of access: know what data about you is stored
- Right of rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure: request deletion of your data
- Right to portability: receive your data in a usable format
- Right to object: object to the processing of your data
To exercise these rights, contact us by email at contact@playnuance.com. Since no personally identifiable data is collected, your request should include your nickname and your anonymous identifier (visible in the leaderboard next to your nickname, format #xxxx).
Delete your data yourself
Your local data is stored only in your browser, so you can delete it at any time by clearing site data for playnuance.com in your browser settings.
To delete your public scores from the leaderboard, send us your anonymous identifier and nickname at contact@playnuance.com.
Minors
Nuance. is suitable for all audiences and collects no data that could identify a minor user. No advertising or inappropriate content is presented.

This policy may evolve with new game features. Any changes will be reflected on this page with the date of last update. Major changes will also be announced via the game's update log.
